They Called It

Yes they did. It was the Friday before the election. I was looking forward to hearing the thoughts of some of my former colleagues at Northwestern. Stephen, Tom, and Angela picked it. In spite of much of what the talking heads and last minute polling was telling the country, the economic and political analytics discussed predicted a decisive win by Donald Trump. Although I was not particularly pleased with their predictions, it was great to see them nonetheless. Well aware of their academic capabilities, I was sure their conclusions were correct, especially when it came down to the “Blue Wall.” As we now know, their data based perspectives were on the money. (No pun intended). Come election night, I wasn’t all that surprised as to the outcome. Angela predicated her analysis on consumer and behavioral economics. Stephen on district level political patterns, and Tom by the historic actions and reactions of the stock market. Much congrats to my former faculty colleagues at Northwestern. Solid scholarship all the way around.
