This short essay is in response to Larry Arrington’s PA Times article posted in January 2018. His effort, entitled, “The Tragedy of Public Management” is well worth the read. It prompted me to get in contact with him. He has just released a compendium of writings. His is a yeoman’s effort with public service and his macro application of “Civitas” as the central themes. From the K-12 system on up, his ten years of research and three years of writing should be central to the conversation of public service, cultural literacy and what it means to be a public administrator.
